My name is Margie Wood, and Bonsai.me grew out of a simple, lifelong affection: I love little trees. There is something quietly wonderful about a tree small enough to sit on a windowsill yet old enough to have a story — and once that fascination takes hold of you, it never really lets go.

A hobbyist at heart

I've spent decades in the bonsai world — growing and maintaining my own trees, tending popular bonsai sites, and above all helping other people find their tree. If I've learned one thing in all those years, it's this: the right tree, matched to the right home and the right person, almost takes care of itself. Most of the heartbreak in bonsai comes from a mismatch at the very beginning, and most of the joy comes from getting that first choice right.

Why this site exists

Along the way I picked up a knack for the internet side of things, too — so I built Bonsai.me to bring both together: a clean, calm place to browse trees, tools, books and accessories, organized the way a fellow enthusiast would organize them, with honest guidance alongside. Every category here is curated to help you find what you're actually looking for, whether that's your very first starter kit or a flowering azalea for a garden bench.
